Elektron successfully completed a full upgrade of the main switchboard and house distribution board for a 4-level commercial building on Mitchell St, McMahons Point, accommodating a range of multinational tenants.
The original 1970s switchboard contained obsolete switchgear, posing a high risk of significant downtime in the event of a fault. To modernize the infrastructure, Elektron installed a new remote 1000A linkbox at the basement entry point, allowing the existing consumers mains to be upgraded to fire-rated cabling in compliance with current National Construction Code (NCC) and council requirements.
The power shutdown was meticulously coordinated over a long weekend to minimize disruption to the commercial tenants' business operations. The new main switchboard now provides enhanced safety, improved redundancy, and long-term peace of mind regarding electrical reliability.
